William married Mary Jane Joyce at Withel Florey, Somerset, England in 1879 and they had 5 children.  She came from Kingsbrompton (probably the farm near Dulverton), in Somerset.  In the 1881 census they are living at 1 Barnstable Road, where he is assistant Baker to his father then living at number 2.  They continued to live in South Molton for the rest of their lives, but by 1911 he is listed in the census as a dairyman and they are living at 2 North Road, with two grandchildren.
