This little place gets a mention in Collinson’s History
of Somerset as Eddy Mead, a hamlet of about sixteen house belonging to the parish of Burnham.
It was durinq the nineteenth century that this particular locality
was populated by a variety of persons associated with the Hawkings family. We have already encountered Jesse Hembry, but earlier in the century it was the home of Samuel Somner and Sarah Tripp.
